Let’s end homelessness in the Arctic
Uquutaq Society provides safe, healthy and dignified housing and 24/7 support for people experiencing homelessness in Iqaluit, Nunavut — one of the most challenging housing environments in Canada.
In the Arctic, having a safe, warm place to sleep is a matter of survival.
Each day in Iqaluit, people face the reality of not knowing where they will sleep, how they will stay warm, or where they can turn for support. With extreme weather, limited housing options, and some of the highest rental costs in the country, homelessness here carries unique risks.
Uquutaq meets that reality with consistency, care, and culturally respectful support – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It’s about more than shelter.
In Iqaluit, not having a home often means being disconnected from family, culture, and land, deepening the impacts of colonization, displacement, and intergenerational trauma.
When someone comes through Uquutaq’s doors, they are not just looking for a bed. They are looking to feel safe, to be welcomed, and to reconnect to community and to possibility.
